Gubernatoiral Candidates 2010

The primary election for governor is coming up June 8. There are a lot of candidates vying for your vote for the next Governor of Maine, so we decided to compile a list of the candidates and their platforms to help readers become more informed. Today we're featuring Libby Mitchell. Check back tomorrow to get a glimpse of Bill Beardsley.

  • Equality for all Mainers
  • Will work to make sure legislation for marriage equality passes

  • Energy:
  • Reduce dependence on foreign oil
  • Create oil substitutes
  • Take advantage of wind, solar, and tidal/hydro power

  • Economy:
  • Build on Maine’s natural resources for stimulus
  • Expand upon tourism revenue opportunities

  • Education:
  • Make sure students and teachers have resources needed to take advantage of current opportunities
  • Create lifelong learning culture in Maine
  • Encourage more people to continue with post secondary education

  • Health Care:
  • Cut health care costs for all Mainers
  • Require businesses to allow paid sick time and introduce wellness programs for employees
